Interplay employ up to 150 play workers over the summer period who fall into the following categories: |

Whenever possible, Playleaders and Activity Leaders work for one week before the scheme and visit the young people in their homes to assess their needs and then liaise with parents throughout the schemes. Play Assistants / Activity Assistants work for the duration of the schemes to provide extra support so integration can take place. As well as the responsibilities of Playleader, the Activity Leader takes on the organising and financial management of their scheme.
Floating workers work with schemes that require additional support as assistants or to cover sickness.
Mobile workers - In the event of particular problems (playleader sickness, unforeseen support needs, etc.) some of the organisation's most experienced workers are employed to join a scheme at short notice and for a limited time to sort the problem out. This involves a high degree of adaptability and experience with a wide range of schemes, workers and children. The use of Mobile workers has been very successful and some of the more experienced, long serving staff have combined their summer mobile work with the role of summer co-ordinator acting as a deputy to the manager.
Ysgol Crug Glas workers work solely within the Ysgol Crug Glas Summer Playscheme and range from lunchtime assistants to playworkers with 2 organisers who run the scheme. Interplay provides administration for the scheme.
SWAT - a team of experienced workers who provide support for young people with special needs on summer schemes that don't already have our support but have need of our services.

As well as summer work, Interplay employs staff throughout the year. |

Activity Days - We employ between 5 and 10 workers, depending on the size of the group of young people and the type of activities, to run these activity sessions as well as hiring in tutors and other specialists to run workshops.
The Residential Project - This project provides a group of
experienced workers to enable groups of young people aged between
12 and 19 to have a weekend with an overnight stay. The ratio of worker
to young person is generally higher on an overnight stay than on an
Activity Day.
Youth Club Workers - Interplay employs experienced staff to support
staff of the club to include the young people as well as supporting the
young people to take part in the clubs.
Youth Consultancy Group workers - a small team of staff work to give
support and guidance to the young people during their monthly sessions
and at any conferences etc. that the group may participate in.
SWAT workers - these are workers who have worked for Interplay in
the past and therefore have a lot of experience. We have a pool of
workers that we can call on throughout the year for local schemes as
well as being part of the SWAT team during the summer.
Event Workers - experienced play and activity workers who work at
various events throughout the year as well as taking part in Summer
play and activity schemes.
We usually recruit once a year from April to July for our staff - Application forms available from our office from the beginning of April onwards. Volunteers can contact John Thomas any time during the year.
