THE RESIDENTIAL PROJECT
This popular project enables groups of young people aged between 12 and
19 to have a weekend with an overnight stay. In the past we have held
residential in centres at Margam Park, St. Madoc youth camp, and
Stackpole as well as camping in Tipis and ordinary tents in Gower.
Aims of The Residential Project
- To enable groups of young people (aged 12 to 19) with and without
special needs to take part in weekends away.
- To promote co-operation and choice between young people with and
without special needs.
- To develop independence skills.
- To try out new and challenging activities.
- To promote participation in the choice and running of the weekend.
- To enable young people to create their own rules and guidelines
for behaviour.
This initiative offers the opportunity for integrated groups of young
people to experience new activities and gain independence skills by
having weekends away (e.g. in Youth Camps etc.). Interplay piloted this
project over a few years and it has proven to be very successful, with
a very high demand.
