Interplay's funding from Social Services, with
extra money from Trusts and charities such as the Big Lottery and
Children in Need and one-off grants from Social Services as well as
Fundraising Events and donations.
IS INTERPLAY A PART OF SOCIAL SERVICES?
Interplay is an independent voluntary
organisation, registered as a charity and a company.
WHO ORGANISES THE PLAYSCHEMES?
This will depend on the scheme - some are
organised by local authorities, some by residents group or church
parish councils, some by leisure centres etc.
Activity Days are organised by Interplay.
WHY DOESN'T INTERPLAY STAY WITH A SCHEME LONGER
THAN 2 WEEKS?
As we have limited funding and higher demand for
places than funding permits us to offer, we try to offer a fair share
to all. (Many playschemes organised by the general community are only 2
weeks long whilst some last the whole holidays).
HOW MANY PEOPLE WORK FOR INTERPLAY?
Interplay has five permanent staff and takes on
up to 150 sessional workers and as many as 25 volunteers during the
summer. We also have part time sessional staff working throughout the
year.
HOW MANY SCHEMES IS INTERPLAY INVOLVED WITH EACH
YEAR AND HOW MANY YOUNG PEOPLE TAKE PART?
During the summer Interplay is usually involved
with between 10 and 20 playschemes, up to 10 Activity Days schemes as
well as our administration of the Ysgol Crug Glas summer scheme.
Each playscheme has around 6 to 8 participants
supported by Interplay and Our activity schemes have around 12 to 15
young people taking part.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO ATTEND PLAYTRAINING?
VERY! - You will be able to meet other
volunteers, share your skills, renew rusty ones and have fun in a big
bunch.
CAN MY FRIENDS ALSO BE VOLUNTEERS ON A SCHEME?
It may be possible but they need to go though the
procedure of filling in a volunteer form and attending interview with
us so that we can arrange references and CRB checks before they would
be able start in the scheme (it would be good if they participate in
the 3 day training too!)
CAN VOLUNTEERS TAKE THEIR OWN CHILDREN TO THE
PLAYSCHEME?
If they do not require supervision by you, then
yes.
IS THERE VOLUNTARY WORK AVAILABLE WITH INTERPLAY
FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR?
Yes - There's the Activity Days that are
currently on regular basis throughout the year as well as Santa's
Workshops, parties and special events.
