These are integrated activity days and weekends
for young people. There will be a wide range of fun activities from
sports to arts & crafts, outdoor pursuits, performing arts etc.
Who can take part in Activity Days?
Anyone aged between 12 - 19.
Do I need to have special needs to take part?
No, they are open to everyone.
Where are they held?
At leisure centres, community centres, schools
etc. all over Swansea & Neath Port Talbot.
How many spaces are available on Activity Days?
It depends on the activity, but usually around 12
young people take part in each Activity Day.
What about staff?
All our staff are trained play & youth
workers who have worked for Interplay before. The number of workers on
Activity Days is dependent on the number of young people who are
involved. In addition, we usually have a number of volunteers .
Do you provide transport?
Unfortunately we are unable to provide transport
to and from the Activity Days venue but we will provide coaches within
the event if more than one venue is involved or if the venue is outside
the two counties.
How much do Activity Days cost?
Activity Days are usually free, although some
special events may have a small charge.
Do you provide lunch?
We ask that you bring along a packed lunch but we
do provide refreshments such as squash and biscuits.
Who organises Activity Days?
Activity Days are organised by John Hawkins who
is the Youth Development Officer for Interplay.
How does a young person apply to take part in an
Activity Day?
Their parent/carer fills in a registration form
and the details will be put on our database. We will then send them
information and a booking form whenever an Activity Days event is
planned.
Registration forms are available from our offices - just telephone or email us and we'll
send you one.
When do Activity Days happen?
Activity Days are organised at various times
throughout the year - dates are arranged about a month in advance as
workers and activities become available. Although called Activity Days,
these events often happen over 2 days at half terms and holidays or
weekends through the year. During the summer the Activity Days run for
up to 10 day blocks.
Does the young person have to go to all Activity
Days or can they just pick the ones they like?
We'll send information on all the Activity Days
as they become available and the young person can choose which ones
they want to participate in. If they don't fancy an activity, they can
leave it for those who do, there will be another along shortly.
Do places have to be booked in advance or can
people just turn up on the day?
Places must be booked in advance of the day as
places are limited. Confirmation will be sent out so that the young
people know definitely that they have a place.
What kind of activities have happened in the past?
Swimming, Ten Pin Bowling, visits to theatre and
cinema, outdoor pursuits such as Gorge Walking, arts and crafts, day
trips which have included Longleat Wildlife Park and @Bristol, lantern
making workshops and parades, music workshops, circus skills such as
juggling and diabolo, puppetry workshops and performances, performing
arts and much more.
