INTERPLAY

THE STAFF OF INTERPLAY

PERMANANT STAFF

SUMMER WORKERS

Interplay employ up to 80 play workers over the summer period who fall into 6 categories:

Playleaders work for one week before the scheme and visit the young people in their homes and assess their needs and then liase with parents throughout the schemes. Play assistants / Chooseday assistants work for the duration of the schemes to provide extra support so integration can take place. As well as the responsibilities of Playleader, the Chooseday leader takes on the organising and financial management of their scheme. Floating workers work with a scheme that needs extra support as assistants.

Mobile workers - In the event of particular problems (worker sickness, unforeseen support needs, etc.) some of the organisation's most experienced workers are employed to be "dropped in" to a scheme at short notice and for a limited time to sort the problem out. This involves a high degree of adaptability and experience with a wide range of schemes, workers and children. The use of Mobile workers is very successful and was made more effective by providing them with pagers. This made them easier to contact in the case of an emergency.

YEAR ROUND PROJECT WORKERS

CHOOSEDAY WEEKENDS - We employ between 3 and 10 workers, depending on the size of the group of young people and the type of activities, to run these two day activity sessions as well as buying in tutors and other specialists to run workshops.

JOINERS - Interplay employs experienced staff to work with young people for up to 3 months.
