CHOOSEDAYS FAQ

  1. What are Chooseday Weekends?

These are integrated activity weekends for young people. There will be a wide range of fun activities from sports to arts & crafts, outdoor pursuits, performing arts etc.

  2. Who can take part in Chooseday Weekends?

Anyone aged between 12 - 19. Both with and without special needs.

  3. Where are they held?

At leisure centres, community centres, schools etc. all over Swansea & Neath Port Talbot.

  4. How many spaces are available on a Chooseday?

It depends on the activity, but usually between 20 - 30 young people take part in each Chooseday.

  5. What about staff?

All our staff are trained play & youth workers who have worked for Interplay before. The number of workers on a weekend Chooseday is dependent on the number of young people who are involved. Plus we usually have a number of volunteers involved.

  6. Do you provide transport?

I'm afraid that there's no transport available to and from the Chooseday venue but we will provide coaches within the weekend if more than one venue is involved or if the venue is outside the two counties.

  7. How much do Chooseday Weekends cost?

Chooseday Weekends are usually free, although some special events may have a small charge. We have received funding from the National Lottery for three years which covers the costs of most events.

  8. Do you provide lunch?

We ask that you bring along a packed lunch but we do provide refreshments such as squash and biscuits.

  9. Why are they called 'Choosedays'?

Because young people get to 'Choose' the activities they take part in.

  10. Who organises Choosedays?

Chris Southern is the Project Co-ordinator who works as part of the Interplay organisation.

  11. How do I apply to take part in a Chooseday?

Fill in a registration form and you will be put on our database. We will then send you information and a booking form whenever a Chooseday happens.

  12. When do Chooseday Weekends happen?

At various times throughout the year - dates are arranged about a month in advance as workers and activities become available. Although called Weekends, Choosedays often happen at half terms and holidays rather than weekends but usually last two days. During the summer the weekend Choosedays stop and instead we run Fortnight Summer Choosedays where all the activities are decided by the participants.

  13. Do I have to go to all Chooseday Weekends or can I just pick the ones I like?

We'll send you information on all the Choosedays as they become available and you choose which ones you want to join in with. If you don't fancy an activity, leave it for those who do, there will be another along shortly.

  14. Do I have to book in advance or can I just turn up on the day?

You must complete and return a booking form before the day. You will know you definitely have a place when you receive a confirmation letter.

  15. I have a great idea for a Chooseday...

Let us know - we're always looking for new ideas.
