INTERPLAY

Our local police regularly organise Blue Light Discos at a local night club called Cinderella's, based on the sea front at Mumbles. The discos, for 12+ year olds have always been popular locally and it seemed like the perfect opportunity for integration, so one of our sessional workers (now a trustee!) liased with the police to get a small group of young people with special needs to become a part of these regular monthly events.

During 1999 and 2000, the Disco Project began, slowly at first as funding came from a variety of sources and in small amounts which meant that discos were arranged on a month to month basis. Grants and donations from places like Woolworth's, parents and carers and the police themselves have enabled us to participate on a fairly regular basis, but no permanent source of funding has yet been found to sustain this very popular project.
